YSK: USBs have two sides: a solid and a hollow side. The great majority of USBs go in with the hollow side facing you.
So for laptops, the hollow side faces up. The two little holes on the top let you see if it’s hollow or solid. Works in all the devices I’ve tried. Obviously doesn’t help in the dark, but this has saved me so much time so far.

YSK: If the Apple store tells you your motherboard needs to be fully replaced and is out of warranty, don’t spend $100s. Take it to a qualified, reputable computer repair shop. You can pay a fraction to get the same result.
I’ve been watching videos about logic board repairs and it’s kind of disgusting how much Apple will charge to replace a motherboard that only needs a new 5-cent capacitor, fuse, or another cheap component. The truth is that Apple corporate doesn’t trust that the employees will be able to perform component-level repairs, even though they are often very inexpensive fixes. Granted, if you spilled water on your laptop and ruined thousands of components, you’re probably out of luck. But it’s often worth considering to avoid complete replacements.
Edit: Message me if you’re curious to learn more about this stuff
YSK your iPhone has an “Emergency SOS” setting that allows you to call emergency services by clicking the lock button 5 times in a row. You can enable or disable an alarm that plays before calling.
This is a feature that I didn’t know existed until I accidentally started it. It’s incredibly useful in emergency situations and I think all iPhone holders should know about it. Also, please remember to fill out your Medical ID card (you can do so in the Health app).
YSK: If you are having a problem with a state or federal agency, your state/federal representatives have staff who a specifically there to help you, and they have special channels to those agencies.
If you have a problem with the DMV, Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, any benefits you are due, or anything involving government, every agency has staff that are required to respond to requests from state and federal representatives, and every state and federal lawmaker’s office is set up to help their constituents with exactly those problems.
If you have a problem with a state or federal agency call your state or federal representatives, they can help cut through red tape and get things worked out.
