In fairness it wasn’t done maliciously, the animal was at risk of drowning and the person thought they were doing a good thing saving it. At the end of the day most people’s default reaction is to help if the see an animal or person in distress.
That said you shouldn’t get involved because letting nature take it’s course and all that. Same reason you shouldn’t stop an animal killing another. Sure you’ve kept one alive for a bit longer, but you’ve also deprived another of feeding itself and potentially it’s babies as well. So saving the life of one could have a knock on effect resulting in the death of several others.
The calf was apparently in trouble after being left behind by the herd, but it’s claimed that the herd rejected the calf because the visitor handled it.
Park officials killed the calf rather than letting nature take its course, but the visitor should have let nature take its course.

Multiple logical problems in the story here.
