Gemmabeta: 1. Drive truck
2. Watch Star Wars
3. Get food poisoning and dream about a time travelling metal killing machine
4. ???
5. Profit!
CommissionerValchek: All those semi-truck chase scenes in the first two Terminators suddenly make a lot more sense.
Whiteoutlist: Just imagine how good of a truck driver he could have been.
inzanelson: Star Wars inspired a lot of people
lurking_digger: Dropped out of high school, went to different high school, and graduated. Went to community college, dropped out. Went to USC library to research film production during his off time truck driving.
He strikes me as always hungry and striving to be better…
Can you imagine the shit posting he must be doing on the internet these days? Or does he just watch porn and smoke weed?
Ninnux: True story bra: I was in graduate school and met up with a med student who knew him personally. He’d volunteer for long haul in order to sleep over in towns. He’d make sure he was in a town with a university and take out dissertations of film students and study them over his down-time.
shinzul: Aaaand I literally just spent 45 minutes crawling Wikipedia about James Cameron and all the amazing work he’s done. Really is quite impressive!
sowhat12: I became a truck driver after watching Duel
jakethealbatross: Then, after he watched the prequels, he went back to truck driving.
PlaidAvenger: I wish Michael Bay would quit his job in the film industry and become a truck driver.
crankypants_mcgee: James Cameron doesn’t do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is… James Cameron
ddrm2100: And on top of it he will discover a fuel capable of powering a time machine in the near future.
Ping1337: I wish I could quit my job to pursue my dreams but I live in 2017
cm791: Imagine if James Cameron had directed the new Star Wars trilogy
IntoAComa: “this looks easy, I’ll do this”
madhi19: That would be around 77-78 since he did a short in 78. Cameron went from quitting his truck driver job to directing Aliens in eight freaking years. What have you done with your life in the past 8 years?
HiMyNameIsNerd: Now he’s the greatest pioneer
BoldTendencies: His name is Jaaaaaames Cameron, the bravest pioneer. No budget to steep no sea too deep, who’s that? It’s him, James Cameron
nsantander: I go to the University of Colorado at Boulder and the school offers a major for what Cameron did. It is called Technology, Arts, and Media and it is apparently very cool. I have some friends who are in there who wanted to do engineering but loved music so they switched into that.
opticon: Later, there were some people who saw Episode One and said “fuck movies” and quit.
Seankps: The reason why both Terminator movies have truck driving chases
Simpson17866: “I decided to quit my job as an actor and enter the trucking industry after starring in Piranha II.” – one of the cast, I’m sure of it
Merc931: And as a result it brought us Terminator 2, the greatest god damn movie ever made.
XavierXavier1: Posts like this always make it sound so easy. Why don’t we all just quit our jobs and enter the film industry?
kalyup: How do you just enter the film industry? Is there a waiting list or something
_Vic_Romano_: *Cameron enrolled at Fullerton College, a two-year community college, in 1973 to study physics.*
Fullerton community college is very different from the community colleges where I live.
HattedSandwich: I am so grateful he did. Terminator, Aliens, and Avatar are some of my favorite universes
Sixshot87: watched a show on national geographic about the movie titanic. All these years later and this guy is still obsessed with the credibility of the movie including simulating movie scenes with new information gathered since filming.
shane727: Can you imagine someone attempting that nowadays? Man it must have been nice back then to be able to enter a field without devoting 20 years, college, and a ton of money to get an entry level position.
sdupui3: so from 1977 to 1983 he developed the skills to make The Terminator?
fokjoudoos: I wish he worked on his personality as much as his moviemaking.
correcthorsestapler: And in six years he’ll be the only one in possession of Cameronium.
notbannedforsarcasm: “They dismantled the camera to understand how to operate it and spent the first half-day of the shoot trying to figure out how to get it running.”
Apparently his stint in a two-year college never taught him about the existence of instruction manuals…
ManwithaTan: And the first film he made was about a killer truck driver.
myhihi1: Cool, but how does that even work out, did he have any film experience prior to becoming a truck driver?
