mlahero: “You’re the smartest person I ever met and you’re too stupid to see he made up his mind 10 minutes ago.”
Just thinking about this still gets to me. Heartbreaking stuff, brilliant acting.
wonder-maker: I cannot begin to imagine the feeling Bryan Cranston had reading this letter. Being a professional actor, pouring your heart and soul into a role and then getting this in the mail.
I think I could retire after that.
TooShiftyForYou: And because the letter was leaked Sir Anthony Hopkins vowed to never write another actor again.
*“Some other actor, I don’t know who he was, but Bryan must’ve told somebody about the letter and showed it to him. And somebody, some stupid guy, put it on the Internet,” Hopkins said. “And now I didn’t ask for it. I just wrote this personal letter to Bryan . . . I didn’t want it to be known publicly, but that’s what happens today. You can’t open your mouth before it goes on the Internet or whatever you have, on Twitter or Facebook.”*
*“I keep my mouth shut from now on,” Hopkins concluded. “I don’t write letters to people.”*

biancaleesi: i wonder how bryan cranston reacted to it
june606: I wonder if Hopkins had ever seen Malcolm in the Middle?
stonebone4: [This final scene from Crawl Space is seared into my brain. I still get chills thinking about it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWfK5JyD2bA)
slurpee_clerk: If your acting is not on point, or the writing is repetitive, those things will become glaring to anyone who binges (which is more and more common).
Having said that, Walt Jr. eats a lot of fucking breakfast – regardless of weekly or binge viewing.

Seattle-ite: The fantastic thing about Breaking Bad is it never really let you down.
Essentially every great TV show before or since has come with caveats to its enjoyment. The beginning drags, the ending is bad, the casting is wrong, the camera work is boring, the soundtrack doesn’t mesh, too obtuse or too specific for a large audience.
Breaking Bad smashed that to bits, goddamn thrill ride from beginning to end.
mannyrmz123: My top two character portrayals in TV shows are hands down Hugh Laurie’s Dr. House and Bryan Cranston’s Walter White.
Worth watching every second without a doubt.
lightknight7777: Hey, I get that this information being public knowledge embarrassed Anthony Hopkins. But damn it if Cranston’s performance as Walter White isn’t legitimately the best acting most people have ever seen. It was truly on point.
Sorry that Hopkins felt violated about the letter getting out. But Hopkins didn’t say anything wrong at all and who wouldn’t be proud of getting that kind of letter from the Anthony Hopkins himself?
InkBlotSam: Personally, I think Walter White’s ongoing role as Bryan Cranston is an even better performance.
jcbubba: BC: Thanks for meeting with me to discuss whether or not to spread the contents of this letter.
BC’s Publicist: Of course! Really important to talk about these things.
BC: Hopkins’ praise is flattering and may help others decide to choose me for Oscar-worthy roles.
Publicist: Agreed.
BC: But on the other hand, he may not want me to disseminate his private correspondence.
Publicist: True.
BC: So what do you think we should do?
Publicist: Oh, I uploaded that the second I got it.
tartrate10: Hopkins is an Anti Dentite Sympathizer
HillsHoistRepresent: The reply:
“You’re god damn right.”
Pompeyboy: Obviously impressed by meth acting.
Burritos92: God I would love to know what binge watching TV would be like with Anthony Hopkins.
Arclite83: Breaking Bad is one of the greatest dramas ever made, period. It’s a masterpiece of television. It’s also so powerful, and so painful, I probably will never watch it again.
HenryHenderson: Wait till you hear what Steve Buscemi did after 9/11, mate!
AudibleNod: He also called [Michael Bay a genius and savant](https://io9.gizmodo.com/anthony-hopkins-calls-michael-bay-a-genius-and-savant-1794139158). So take that compliment with a grain of ~~blue meth~~ salt.
rocknrolljohnny: i really liked the movie Meet Joe Black. i thought hopkins and pitt were great in it. sure, the premise was odd, but the acting superb throughout.
GsolspI: The only way to marathon BB is to watch Malcom in the Middle every few hours to remind yourself what incredible work Cranston is doing.
slurpee_clerk: Can Anthony Hopkins please review *Paul Blart: Mall Cop* next? I’d love to read his thoughts in the Anthony Hopkins voice in my head.
Reacher-Said-Nothing: [And because of that, I must now do better.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S94ETUiMZwQ)
RankerInsights: This is significant praise, considering [Anthony Hopkins](https://insights.ranker.com/?classid=0&adjectives=any&audience=&list_id=&id=472711) is #6 on the list of [best actors in film history](https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-actors), #8 on the list of [best actors working today](https://www.ranker.com/list/the-best-actors-working-today/bustermcdermott), and #9 on the list of [greatest actors and actresses in entertainment history](https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-film-actors-and-actresses-of-all-time).
