mrsuns10: I wonder what are her feelings towards Nevile Chamberlain
DrColdReality: And she was a lorry mechanic, no less. For real.
I always wondered if there was ever a time when she said something like…
“Oi! Who nicked me 3/8 spanner? Nigel, you been into my tools again, you wanker? I’ll be the bloody queen someday, I will, and then it’s off with YOUR head, mate!”
timb0sIice: She throws her hat like oddjob
Edit: sorry if im disrespecting her accidently, i honestly hold the N64 games im referencing with the highest regard from growing up, and being called oddjob is a high honor in my book. That is sincere.
Edit2: she loves oddjob now we gucci
Deadwing888: You know it’s really time to acknowledge this ‘God save the Queen’ stuff may be working…
DrunkenAsparagus: It’s weird seeing the last of this generation die off. Growing up, WWII seemed like such a large part of the cultural zeitgeist. Saving Private Ryan, anniverseries, and watching the History/Hitler Channel. Now the youngest World War II vets are in their late 80’s and early 90’s. They won’t be around for much longer. I wonder what we’ll lose when theyre gone. It’s be a lost symbol unity around a righteous cause.
Brocktologist: If you count former heads, George H W Bush served as well.
Imperium_Dragon: RIP Michael I
Edit: Meant Michael I
tommoFitz: What did she serve?
MFAWG: We’ll all be a little less when she passes, and I feel fortunate to have lived during her time.
She’s one of the most remarkable figures in all of European and world history, and that’s not an exaggeration.
Akenrah: “Hold that Nazi bastard down Nigel whilst I bust a cap in his ass”
“Right away your highness!”
Paula-Abdul-Jabbar: Please no more The Crown spoilers
eLmeez: Long live the Queen!
magiteker: The way things are going she’ll get her chance to be the only head of state to serve in two world wars.
Bretty64: Whether you approve of monarchy or not, she has lived an incredible life.
Synicull: What is dead may never die!
LondonSeoul: Saxe Coburg got ‘er!
BIODOM3: Well, she did only recently become the only one. The last one (King Michael I Of Romania) was the last surviving ruler to have governed during WWII and died a few days ago after a battle with cancer
NoneOfAnything: Any person served in World Wars in any way should be commented graciously
trlababalan: The only living head of state to have served in WW2? What about [Putin](http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/vladimir-putin/12052939/is-vladimir-putin-immortal-conspiracy-theory.html)?
piratepete5: Rip our boi Michael press F to pay respeck
ZebVance: When I was sick with cancer and could not do much, I wrote letters (for the heck of it) to many heads of state worldwide. In my letters, I outlined my concerns and hopes for the future of the world.
Elizabeth II was the only one that sent me a reply – and a well-crafted and thoughtful one as well.
I’m American; and she knew that by the address but she replied anyway. Hilary Clinton, My Secretary of State did not. I think that the UK is lucky to have her and that she is a really great lady.
TehKarmah: I love that lady. Pardon my irreverent Yankee language, but she’s awesome.
Beachbudbuzz: I wish I had a Queen :'(
jrm2007: She is very last person to have met all sorts of people from the past; I believe she was queen when Stalin was still in power or soon afterward, definitely when Khrushchev was. I think she actually met von Ribbentrop and incidentally quite a few people who knew Victoria fairly well who in turn may (maybe someone knows) met George III who was a contemporary of George Washington. Is there anyone alive besides her who was head of state and met Eisenhower? I think she must have known the Kennedys or at least met them.
daneslord: Not true. The emperor of Japan also served.
OPsellsPropane: Wait what? How freaking old is she?
ADustedEwok: If there was anyone I am convinced gets blood from athletic 20 year olds, its her.
WildWellington: No bone spurs on that broad.
capturedguy: One of the last people on earth to be a head of state DURING World War ll just died the other day. His funeral is Saturday. The former King Michael of Romania died at the age of 97.
I believe that leaves just Tsar Simeon ll of Bulgaria , the former head of state of that country as the last person alive who was a head of state during WWll.
TheXypris: In other words, she is old AF
