State of Florida Inadvertently Claims That Florida is Terrible for Investment: “It is Unsurprising That They Would restructure” and “Cancel Unsuccessful Ventures.”
Copying my comment from another thread about this:
Has nothing to do with DeSantis FYI.
They’re still investing $17 billion~ over the next decade in Florida and will increase their staff in Florida by around 13,000 over the same time period.
This decision to move these folks to Florida was a financial one made under the previous CEO because it’d be cheaper to have them in Florida. The staff in California didn’t want to move, and only 10%~ ever did.
Disney had no real plan to get these people to actually agree to go to Florida, and replacing them from scratch with only 10% of the staff was going to be a nightmare.
At that point, are you saving enough money to keep going? No… not really.
And the final nail in the coffin, the current CEO never liked the plan to begin with, and was going to cancel it regardless. The company never got the buy-in from their stakeholders and employees involved with the project.
Not everything is instantly a Republican’s fault because you don’t like them, Reddit.
I think it’s funny that they think anyone’s going to believe them about disney. They are not going to be able to spend this Ron DeSantis fucked himself on this one. And that’s the long and short of it.

To be fair, Disney has been bleeding lately as their large layoffs attest. It’s unsurprising that they’re cancelling planned large spend.

more like office buildings are a terrible investment when most people want to WFH.

“Of course they cancelled the project when they couldn’t get anyone to move into the dumpster fire.”
