That’s absolutely fucked up but probably not all that uncommon. I understand that medical staff are being stretched thin, but the ethical responsibility to properly address a health concern should never be minimized.
“What I learned through that experience is that in a medical setting, women often just aren’t heard, particularly when you don’t have a female doctor.”
Having a female doctor doesn’t mean you are going to be heard either. I get brushed off just as much by female doctors as male.
I’ve seen studies that show female physicians and also female surgeons have better outcomes than males. Haven’t dove into it. It’s not my field and I’m busy. I do feel that I’m generally getting more time and being listened to closer with female doctors/physicians in my personal experience. My wife feels the same way. She had a serious medical issue that was getting worse. Male doctors thought she was being dramatic, she finally saw a female doctor who took the issue seriously and my wife was properly treated. She was potentially a few days away from dying.
I swear to you, I typed that all because I was fairly confident she had male doctors and switched to a female doctor. I just clicked on it, Stones situation was exactly that. Unless you love your male doctor, go female. Especially if you are a woman.
Id take everything she says with a grain of salt . She claims in her book her plastic surgeon “ gifted “ breast implants without her consent because he thought she’d like them
I was working as a physician just out of residency. I responded to a call from nurses that patient was confused, not following commands.
on my arrival, patient finally responsive, slumped over tongue hanging out and drooling, only moving half his body. we call a code stroke and begin getting the clot busting medicine moving as he gets ready to go to the cat scan.
before any of this happens, though, he sits up, looks at me, winks and then slumps back over.
it turns out he was bored and the nurses were annoying him and he actually faked a stroke. muthafucker didn’t know how close he came to fucking up his day big time.
They worked her up though and the initial imaging came back negative… and they probably didn’t think she was “faking” but that she was just having a migraine which is by far the most likely thing for a person with no other signs of stroke other than headache and a negative CTA, like what even is this article
Imagine being a multimillionaire with status and celebrity and getting treated like this by doctors, and now imagine how ordinary women are treated. Absolutely disgusting.

Seems like an incredibly common thing doctors do with women.

And Selma Blair has sclerosis that the doctors refused to diagnose because they also thought she was “faking”
Doctors are LITERALLY refusing to treat women no matter how important they are.
Should we call the medical industry misogynistic by nature?
Edit: They claimed “it was menstrual” and told her “get a boyfriend”
