ELI5: If the universe is expanding in all directions, does that mean that the universe is shaped like a sphere?
I realise the argument that the universe does not have a limit and therefore it is expanding but that it is also not technically expanding.
Regardless of this, if there is universal expansion in some way and the direction that the universe is expanding is every direction, would that mean that the universe is expanding like a sphere?

My mind is just imploding trying to think about how everything began to exist, what was there before, and whether space has edges – what would that even look like? Are scientists as mindfucked as me? Are there any theories?
