Oklahoma is a one party recording consent state. It doesn’t matter if the officers didn’t consent to the recording (is legal if it happened in a place where privacy was not expected) all that matters is someone who participated consented to recording.
(That was taught to me in a media law class at the University of Oklahoma years ago)
So that’s his response? No apology, no resignation, no shame at all over his outright racist and murderous hate speech about his desire to lynch blacks?!!! Yeah, I’m thinking that you’ve got a long history of crimes and abuses of your constituents that needs to be investigated by the FBI.
I am a pro sensible First Amendment auditor, and I’ve seen over the years how the wiretapping and communication laws and statutes being abused by the public officials.
The sheriff is more concerns about someone recording for “investigatory” purposes, which seems like has unearthed a criminal intend, than the actual possible heinous crime being planned by the his department.
We have people from different political spectrum who sanction these types of behaviors which is in par with how the fascist/dictatorial regimes operate.
The goal is to scare and instill fear in regular folks not to investigate them as they will abuse laws to silent the whistleblowers.
