“You can’t record our crimes, that’s illegal!”
That’s the worst part isn’t it? Smh.
This is clearly the worst part of this episode /s
Oklahoma is a one party recording consent state. It doesn’t matter if the officers didn’t consent to the recording (is legal if it happened in a place where privacy was not expected) all that matters is someone who participated consented to recording.
(That was taught to me in a media law class at the University of Oklahoma years ago)
So that’s his response? No apology, no resignation, no shame at all over his outright racist and murderous hate speech about his desire to lynch blacks?!!! Yeah, I’m thinking that you’ve got a long history of crimes and abuses of your constituents that needs to be investigated by the FBI.
Publisher verified with lawyers prior to leaving the voice recorder that it is legal.
Criminal says what?
Public officials in public place.
I’ll bet they regret it. Where’s the FBI?
This is the most police thing I have ever heard
Guess what happens when you fire a racist sheriff in the south?
You get a brand new respawned racist sheriff
I am a pro sensible First Amendment auditor, and I’ve seen over the years how the wiretapping and communication laws and statutes being abused by the public officials.
The sheriff is more concerns about someone recording for “investigatory” purposes, which seems like has unearthed a criminal intend, than the actual possible heinous crime being planned by the his department.
We have people from different political spectrum who sanction these types of behaviors which is in par with how the fascist/dictatorial regimes operate.
The goal is to scare and instill fear in regular folks not to investigate them as they will abuse laws to silent the whistleblowers.
*”Yeah, but” that was illegal!”*
Yeah, but the cat is out of the bag.
The genie’s out of the bottle.
You can’t un-ring that bell.
You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Wah we got caught. Man up pigs.
