It’s a tough spot. Unfortunately what has happened in a few different places, is that a large number of Orthodox move into the area, get elected to the School Board, and then vote to defund the schools they don’t use in order to lower property taxes.
If it would be Chinese or Ethiopian community trying to buy off everyone land then you can object, but its the secret religious sect that one must never say no to or mention their name really.
For a little more context about [that Lakewood reference.](https://www.nj.com/news/2017/08/lakewood_new_jersey_leaders_problems_solutions.html) Big highlights are too much development too quickly that the infrastructure can’t handle and a massive drain on the public school budget because they’re on the hook for bussing the kids to private religious schools. Older article, but at the time it was 6k kids in public schools and 30k in 130 or so different private schools in the town so it really does destroy the budget.
