Wait, Germans need permission from the government to change their own name? To just start using a new name in Britain, you like…just start using it. To get it put on official documents, you need to change it by deed poll, which costs £42.44 and is more a notification than a request for permission. This is the sensible way it should be; it is after all, your own name.
In my country if you want to change your name it somtimes. Eins going through court depends on the name and then it goes through a naming committee honestly it’s the worst way I can imagine of how to waste taxpayers money is to have a full time name committee dictate what name is ok and not ok, yes there are people here full time working as naming committee members it’s so stupid and such a waste of money it’s ridiculous, just let people name them self what they want unless maybe if its something outlandish like Brian, ew imagine being called Brian it’s too close to brain
