I know that’s a shitty answer, but that’s the only real requirement. Try to draw something. Then draw it again and again, until you like it. Do that on everything you can think of or see.
One trick I learned is to do exercises called gesture drawing, which looks terrible, but helps your eye see life as drawings better.

You Can Draw in 30 Days: The Fun, Easy Way to Learn to Draw in One Month or Less. It’s really good at getting some basics up and going for people who think they have no drawing abilities whatsoever.
The major drawback for me was that after the book was over, I wanted more of that type of structure and have been a bit rudderless as I’m still learning.
