82 year old woman calls police on caretaker threatening to kill her; police compliment caretaker on firearms & leave. Caretaker kills woman 4 hours later
The wife was an 82 year old hospice patient confined to a hospital bed in her home. Her 86 year old husband/caretaker shot her to death. Apparently she begged for one of the officers to stay. They didn’t.
>On April 5, Henry Cardana called emergency services requesting police get his 82-year-old, bed-ridden wife, Juneanne Fannell, “the hell out of here” for her own safety.
>Cardana, 86, who described his wife as an “uncontrollable” hospice patient, identified himself as her longtime caretaker, according to the 911 call obtained by KOAT-TV.
>Fannell also spoke to dispatch and admitted she felt like she was in danger. She also confirmed there were firearms in the couple’s Rio Rancho home, prompting police to respond.
>”They’re loaded. They’re ready to go,” Cardana allegedly told police about his firearms.
>”We don’t need to see them,” the officer responded. “There’s one probably right there in that case. And I see another one over there.”
>The officer added, “”I like folks that have guns,” per the outlet.

Infuriating. She’s at home, confined to bed. Moving her sounds like work.
She looks sick, easy to think she’s mentally feeble and doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
And Jesus Christ, how many times have we heard in a reporting situation, the abuser will be calm and friendly (they are in charge and getting what they want) and the person at risk will look “crazy” because their life is in danger and they have no power. Well, apparently these idiots slept through that training.

Qualified immunity has to end. Those cops should be held personally responsible and never be able to work in law enforcement again
