Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said Monday that investigators had to consider Florida’s “stand your ground” law before making an arrest. The statute allows people to respond with deadly force if they reasonably believe they are being threatened with death or serious injury, and says they don’t have to retreat if they’re “not engaged in a criminal activity and … in a place where he or she has a right to be.”
This being r/nottheonion, the picture and vague title made me initially think that the cops found some excuse to arrest a Black person for this murder.
Regardless of fault, “knocking on neighbor’s door” is disingenuous and misleading clickbait and racebait. There was an entire fight before, tensions were already high, and the shooter had taken her stuff. The title exploits the outrage from previous occurrences like where that kid turned around in the driveway and got shot with no prior contact.

Well, I guess knocking on a neighbor’s door is now a criminal activity. #standyourgroundlogic

She harassed kids, stole from them, terrorized the neighborhood and shot a cheer-mom; gets a couple days respite.
Meanwhile, a homeless guy in my alley just got picked up by the cops the same day because he was yelling at a dumpster.

It is ridiculous that it takes public outrage to make the police and da to do their jobs.
