Sometimes I hope this bullshit is all part of a Chinese PsyOp.
Let’s rebuild society around the lowest common denominator.
Oops, denominator is racist.
“Is USA Today full of morons? The truth will shock you”
If everything is racist is anything actually racist?
Oh god…the comments on that article. I mean, I get that it’s Fox News…but still. The overt racism disguised as concern for *blacks* is too much for me.
Headline is pretty misleading in regards to what the actual conversation is. Of course the original article was behind a paywall.
The article talked about approaches to how math is taught in areas of color, and the connection between poverty and poor test results in mathematics. The article brainstormed different solutions to teach math to struggling students and how to meet them half way.
No, math as a concept isn’t inherently racist. Just like how roads, which are big blocks of concrete, aren’t racist. But they can be weaponized and/or made worse due to racial blindspots. Getting rid of those blindspots promote equity and a more educated populace.
The purpose of these inflammatory/clickbait headlines is to generate hate clicks and buzz, which is exactly what we are seeing now. It’s irresponsible and dumbs down a pretty interesting thesis.
Don’t take the bait and give them the click.
Is 2/3 a fraction?
Reminds me of that report where a woman said the A/C is sexist because women feel the cold more, or something along those lines.
“The left has become so racist that they’re calling everything racist.”
“bolder recommendations to make math more inclusive”
Lol. Just lol.
I am just here for the crossword puzzle.
Math, no. The people and institutions surrounding math, you know it is. Humanity puts such an emphasis on racial differences (as well as gender, cultural religious and so on) it would be too naive to think the way we treat math is any differently.
Shitty clickbait tweet, real concern behind it about the causes about why certain groups underperform at math and the deeper consequences of heterogeneous industries regarding race, gender, wtv.
But that’s not what it says. It asks if math EDUCATION is racist. Asking if our education system is racist is not such a crazy question, nor is asking how we can improve math education. Leave it to foxnews, though, to mislead.
