How can we convince google to send all the tourists to the desert?

We had something similar happen to us once. There was a combination of an accident and construction that made for a horrendous delay, and Google tried to route us around it.

We ended up leading a small convoy on a dirt trail parallel to the freeway, and some of it got pretty rough, with patches of deep soft sand. We ended up on the perimeter road of a solar farm, and finally had to briefly cut through a construction zone to finally get back on the freeway.

People try to go over mountain passes made for high clearance 4WD vehicles and get stuck all the time in Colorado because Google Maps told them it was the quickest route.

Google routed me down a series of smaller and smaller roads on the Island of Kauai trying to navigate to a smaller beach. The road ended at a tiny, what appeared old, Japanese cemetery in the middle of the forest. Not thanking Google, but it sure was a special find.
