> The decision comes after CBC Toronto reported an officer entered the lounge hours before being charged with impaired driving.
Guarantee you the cops don’t blame the drunk driving cop for losing their bar, but the cop who dared to arrested another cop for driving drunk. Probably all making that person’s life a living hell now.
How about having a DUI checkpoint outside the FOP lodge on Friday poker nights?
True story. I have seen them early in the evening preparing for poker night by bringing in many cases of beer. I have seen this on numerous occasions. Their lodge is on a 4 lane parkway only a mile from police HQ in a major urban area.
To be fair to the cops, their poker nights are only attended by some, maybe 30-40 vehicles parked outside on the parkway (the only place to park). I’m sure a majority of cops want nothing to do with the frat house social events of the FOP. So it is maybe 10% of the officers even assigned to that district who attend these poker nights. There is no way that some of these cops are not driving drunk at the end of their poker party.
And there was a scandal where officers covered up a single-vehicle DUI crash of another officer, and secretly transported him from the scene (that incident wasn’t related to the FOP poker nights).

Cant a cop get in a pint or two before they head out on a shift? It’s hard work violating people’s rights in the frozen north.
