I’m willing to accept that “they fought for freedom,” but I also think they fought for the wrong freedoms. They fought for their perceived right to install their own leader following a legal election. I believe they were so to accustomed to Republican malfeasance with regard to legal actions surrounding presidential elections that they felt entitled to act in such a way. Furthermore, they were emboldened by their leader, who they perceived to still have a shot at legitimate power.
That is all to say that they’re fascists fighting for their slice of the elitist pie, which by and through its existence supports systemic racism, gender discrimination and all out classism. They were fighting for their perceived freedom to limit the rights of others.
>The storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters immediately after a speech by the then president has been linked to nine deaths, and saw the halls of the 223-year-old building turned into a war zone. **Rioters surrounded and beat overwhelmed police officers**, sent lawmakers and the then vice-president, Mike Pence, fleeing and attacked with such violence his Secret Service detail asked others to say goodbye to their families for them.
If you want to be honored by the modern right wing, commit treason, murder, or sedition. They’ll actually raise money for you. It’s a get rich quick scheme. I’m not even kidding.

There are many reasons to not like the government, but rioting just because one guy is a sore fucking loser is just stupid.
