Unfortunately, this piece misses the critical insight that despite the name, incels and femcels are also completely voluntary. If you wanted sex that badly, you would be having it. There’s just something else you want more, something that prevents you from doing what people want from a sexual partner.
*And that’s okay.* Or it would be, if you owned that choice and accepted that you were making a reasonable trade. The problem with incels and femcels alike is that they want sex without making the necessary accommodations in their lives to actually be sexually desirable. Sex requires consent, and because of that, it will never be absolutely free: society frowns on the exchange of money, but even if you’re not exchanging money, you still have to give of yourself to a certain degree. If you don’t want to do this, fine. Just don’t. But don’t come complaining when others aren’t willing to give of thenselves for someone who just doesn’t want to.
Completely missing the growing segment of men avoiding relationships because of the inherent bias in family law and the rising number of relationships intended to end in divorce for the financial incentives encouraged by the bias.
There’s always been a percentage of men and women using marriage as a financial boost. But it seems either to have grown or become more overt.
