I’ve hated the attitude of the Enola Holmes films since they came out.
“Hi there! I’m Sherlock Holmes super awesome better than anyone younger sister Enola and I don’t need Sherlock for anything… But I still need his help for both movies in the exact attitude to make me look better by comparison while we nail a case that will surely make me one of the best detectives of all time. Let me break this fourth wall so I can tell you exactly how to feel through this whole thing” What a stupid fucking premise lmao
He was an asshole though. My favorite example is one story when he was laid up for some reason so he dispatches Watson, his literal only friend on this planet, to undertake an investigation. Watson was not a dummy, and so he went to great effort and diligence to collect as much information as possible and to do things the way he believed Holmes would have done; Holmes, instead of being grateful to his friend, berates Watson for having bungled the investigation completely. I haven’t seen the show but “kind and caring” are two words you’d hardly ever associate with canon Sherlock.

Enola breaks the fourth wall in the film. At the very least they could claim she’s an unreliable narrator regarding her older brother’s treatment.

Misleading title. They sued because they allege netflix drew from stories that weren’t public domain
