How does this even happen? You don’t buy a plane ticket to a country, you buy one to a city. Ending up in the wrong London or Birmingham or Portland, maybe.
In New Hampshire there is the Manchester Airport (MHT). It is about a hour outside of Boston.
In an effort to get more people to travel to it the name was changed to the Manchester BOSTON Regional Airport. This was before the time of Uber or Lyft and there aren’t any busses, trains, or planes going from MHT to BOS.
There were so many people that ended up in Manchester wondering where their rides were or how to get to places in Boston; that they changed the name and stopped pushing the Boston angle. There were 100s of people waiting in the Airport for a ride to come up from Boston or trying to find a way to a bus line to get to Boston. It was a major problem for a bit.
That is a minor inconvenience next to arriving in Austria when heading to Australia.
They have a big red button in the baggage area… it says push this if you thought you landed in Australia. Button does nothing.. every one including me was pushing it.

Wonder how many people actually end up in Australia thinking they were flying to Austria.
