Right…. because farmers ya know… the ones that grow the food… are also the ones that are in control of what it’s processed into how it’s marketed how it’s advertised and how much of it we eat….
It’s understandable where he’s coming from because it’s inarguable that sugar manufacturers are responsible for the obesity epidemic. They even went out of their way, like Big Oil, to ruin the science around their product for decades by claiming that fat, not sugar, was the problem.
The difference is, and this is important, sugar isn’t killing the planet. It’s possible for me to eat sugar and others to abstain. That affects my health but not theirs. This is unlike climate change, which affects everyone whether or not they participate in the oil economy.
Blame farmers? Like the ones growing corn for corn syrup? Honestly farmers kind of get a pass with corn since a lot of corn is a big part in why we got lead out of gas.
I mean corn farmers yeah, the government gives them subsidies out the ass and then 1/3 of their food crop is turned into corn syrup which then goes into pretty much every food on the market making everybody fat.
farmers are dying droves to make our food they don’t deserve this treatment (if you’re curious look at what the chemically enriched soil is doing to the farmers)
anecdotal: my wife is from the midwest farming area. she left for the city with me but many of her classmates started to farm their family land. Several of them have passed away to various cancers before the age of 45.
Except the energy industry isn’t the “farmer” in this analogy, its the multi-national agra conglomerate that undermines science, lobbies the government, and green washes their plundering of resources.

Utterly ridiculous that we allow the biggest conference on climate change to be run by those that profit from the status quo.

I don’t blame the farmer or the oil rig operator.

Did the farmers spend millions of dollars on a decades long campaign denying the link of eating their crop and obesity?

Um, no it’s not. It’s not.
