I fully support this. People don’t discipline their children anymore and they make life unpleasant for everyone else. It used to be that if a child acted up the parent would take them outside until they behaved. Now they just let them take control of every room they enter.
As a kid that would have infuriated me since I was good and it wasn’t fair to me. As an adult, that sounds lovely. Maybe we should restrict kids to restaurants that allow dogs. I’d bet the dog is the better behaved 9 out of 10 times.
I made a photo series one time I fed spaghetti to our 2 year old. She got more on her (and on the floor) than in her. My husband still has the photos framed on his office wall. It was cute, but a real mess.
I don’t know what I would have done if we hadn’t had two Boston terriers to clean up the mess. One of them, Daisy, would hunt down every single grain of rice dropped on the floor. She was a marvel.
We didn’t eat out at restaurants until our daughter was old enough to keep most of her food off the floor, though.
Fantastic. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you know what nightmares children, and even more so, their parents can be. I’d gladly pay a little more to eat at an “adults only” restaurant.
I’ve seen my fair share of parents just leave a huge mess after their kid goes rampage on their food. I can definitely see why a restaurant would want to do this.
I feel for the few parents with well behaved kids, but for every one of them, there are 5 parents who will insist that Dylinn would never misbehave, even while the little shit is in the corner smearing sauce on the walls.
“That is really sad to hear … I was looking forward to trying out your place but with a well-behaved 9-year-old I’m not welcome … sad…”
If you know that your child is well-behaved then you know what its like when children are not well-behaved. Tons of parents also think their brat throwing shit and screaming is just ‘high energy’. I’ve seen this in real life. Could you ask your kid not to climb the shelves? ‘Oh dont worry he climbs everywhere.’ Kids falls starts crying and the parent starts yelling at them.
“This is highly disappointing. I’ve taken my child to 2-3 Michelin-star restaurants who accommodated her since she was an infant, but I can no longer bring her to a pasta house in the suburbs? Lame.” Great, keep taking your kids to Michelin star restaurants, hopefully their staff is paid to deal with your crappy kids, local restaurant staff almost certainly don’t.
A friend of mine let his kids do what every they wanted at restaurants, including crawling under people’s tables. When I told him that he shouldn’t let his kids do that he replied that people thought it was adorable.
After that I vowed never to go anywhere with him & his kids.

I certainly don’t blame the restaurant owner(s), some parents have no common decency.

This is great. I wish more restaurants would do this.

I will NEVER blame the kids, just uncaring parents with no sense of decency and empathy for the rest of the patrons, specially in a public place.

This does not sound unreasonable.
Especially seeing wild children in public while their parents go on about their business as if nothing is happening.

As the father of two kids under that age— I do not blame them in the least.
