No: don’t increase taxes for the ultra-wealthy, close tax loopholes and stop corporate tax breaks, tax churches, and stop corporations from buying up homes and driving up housing prices, in order to repair the wealth divide and provide available housing for the lowest income. We’ll just euthanize the poor. WTAF?
Oooh fox news. Ok then let me guess; Canadians think homeless people should have *access* to medical assisted suicide but this headline will draw more outrage engagement? Am I close? Cuz I sure ain’t reading their nonsense.
They’ve been floating this narrative (MAiD trends from the con bot accounts frequently with this kind of bs) for a while. I’ve yet to see a single report of this actually happening. The program is for terminal patients, not destitute people.
I’m pretty sure homeless folks don’t need assistance if that’s an end they have in mind.
Wow Canada, you are as screwed up as we are south of the border.
(Oh, and I won’t read anything from Fox. They are too untrustworthy. I read about this elsewhere.)
Half of Canadians would agree to allow adults in Canada to seek medical assistance in dying due to an inability to receive medical treatment (51%) or a disability (50%). Fewer than three-in-ten would consent to expand the guidelines to include homelessness (28%) or poverty (27%) as reasons to seek medical assistance in dying.

I don’t think that’s quite what Jesus had in mind about the meek and poor getting into the kingdom of heaven.

More people recover from cancer than homelessness and poverty, so I guess the reasoning fits.

You know you’ve reached true despair when you’d rather die than continue living in these conditions. The system has really screwed people over.
