In Germany we learn a lot about the persecution of the Jews leading up to the Holocaust. One thing always puzzled me:
In the years 1933 and following, the pressure on the Jews was gradually increased. At the start Jewish art was banned, they were not allowed to work and books were burned. At this point, why did they not run away? Surely they must have seen where things were headed?
Now. Now I understand. I see you guys in the USA and I understand. It is always one small escalation after another. Each one so small that you get used to it. “Surely it would not get any worse? Surely people would stop the insanity eventually?” This is what they were thinking.
My dear friends on the other side of the sea: Beware and learn from history.
i get from the lawmakers that the cruelty is the point but surely the constituents arent anti public libraries? have anti government sentiments really gotten that bad there?

Okay, buddy. Whatever you say.
Chalk another win up to the anti-science, anti-education, anti-equality and pro-hate party. Stupid children grow up into model Republicans.

Government funded libraries are one of the greatest symbols of a true democracy and demonstrate a government’s commitment to freedom of speech.
If you replaced ‘Missouri House’ in the headline with ‘Taliban’, you wouldn’t be surprised.
