Canadian here: this was almost guaranteed (and expected). The store was around the corner from a police station.
The man opened the store in protest and to highlight the lack of a clean supply of drugs. People will do drugs as they are available on the black market, but a lot of hard drugs are laced with things like fentanyl. He lost someone close to him due to tainted drugs and so his goal was to provide a clean source (he tested the drugs before selling them).
This stunt was his attempt to raise awareness to the issue.
This is the stupidest thing ive ever heard of . Fentanyl is the leading killer inB.C with lik 600 people dying in the first 3 months this year alone and they arrest someone who is giving these people a safe supply and they arrest him. WTF

The thing that I didn’t realize is that hard drugs hadn’t been legalized there. I thought it was like Oregon.
