I can see why people are upset. A) it’s right in front of the main gate and if that isn’t enough it looks like dogshit, and B) what the fuck is wrong with a person who, after touring one of the darkest and most gruesome sites in all of human history where over a million people were tortured and murdered, wants to run over and grab an ice cream cone?
I’m sure there’s a line, I’m not sure how you’d define it. I’ve been to museums about war and genocide and so on, there’s always been a café and a shop. If you want kids to take part and engage with the subject matter then you have to make concessions to the fact they are kids and as such will have shorter attention spans and maybe want an ice cream after some heavy-going respectful silence. These places *are* tourist attractions whether they like to think of themselves that way or not.
It seems more crassly colourfully designed than obscene as a principle.

Do they not have ice cream for sale in the gift shop?

I’m fine with ice cream being sold anywhere. This is a nothingburger. I’m also fine with nothingburgers and other burgers being sold.

The problem today is some people fail to sympathize with what occurred there.
These people are usually a generation or two removed or don’t truly know the history
And as the years go by it will sadly get worse.

It’s not in the best taste putting an ice cream can there, although a smoked pork brisket van would have been worse.
