    Not very oniony though, pretty smart to consider brainwashing children into fantastical beliefs that dont reflect tangible reality as child abuse.

    Sounded like telling your kid theyd be grounded for cursing at grandma would fall under the same umbrella of psychological abuse that going to church would from the little I skimmed of that article. Slippery slope.

    it’s important to know the context. Japan has a serious problem with new-age cult scams, and tons of people have been sucked in and convinced to drain their savings accounts and spend all their money on these things, leaving their kids without basic necessities. And children are often used to help spread and advertise these cults.
