I am really unclear on how this law hasn’t been struck down based on first amendment rights.

DeSantis will be running for president, probably in 2024. He wants to do this nationally.

I just happen to be reading ‘1984’ this sounds

Like thought crime and the ministry of truth and big brother.

We can’t have *children* reading *books* can we? What are you, some kind of communist?

This isn’t in all counties, my district has not made us do this. I don’t know why some are doing it and some aren’t. The districts should tell DeSantis to go to hell. He’s not King, he has not jurisdiction over this. He’s a Brown Shirt Nazi.

If we can’t have political indoctrination and pornographic materials then I guess we can’t have any books at all…stupid people trying to drag you down to their level so they can beat you with experience

I’d bet money that this is actually malicious compliance… the librarians removing all books from their shelves as a protest of how fucking braindead that directive was.

Tell me again which party us for small government?

    >The state statute requires media centers to be free from the following materials:

    >Discrimination in such a way that “an individual, by virtue of his or her race, color, sex, or national origin is inherently racist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.”

So if I’m reading this correctly, the state statute isn’t allowed in schools.
