Judges should not be practicing medicine, however according to the article the indication is not one that Florida state law currently allows medical marijuana to be used for. That makes this a legislative issue, not a judicial one.
Sound advice, why would you take a drug with a vast therapeutic index, few adverse reactions, and no history of strong physical dependence or withdrawal… when you can take a benzo! Benzos, notable for being monstrously physically and psychologically addictive, and which require months or years of slow titration to quit safely without seizures.
Hey kid, put down that aspirin, try this heroin instead, Judge Fuckmeimthick said it’s fine!
If anyone thinks that America’s medical industry hasn’t been bought and paid-for by corporations that deal in addictions like a farmer deals in corn, then they’re lying to themselves.
Another judge acting as a doctor has no medical knowledge. My district is represented by this judge. In the election of 2022, not enough Democrats cast ballots.
Florida and Texas both are peeling away medical marijuana rights. Makes sense, pot is not prescribed by a doctor and actually provides relief with no worries about addiction. Won’t someone think of the poor health insurance industry??
Don’t you love it when republican judges, who never went to medical school, just decide they are better informed to make medical decisions than medical professionals. If you thought there were problems with our health care system get ready. The problems are going to get exponentially worse. You are going to have to hire a lawyer and go to court to get your care approved.

It’s so infuriating that a judge can dictate medical need.
