He’s had a large fine every 5 years and at this point is averaging about $20,000/year in fines.
To put that in perspective, another redditor in this thread states he’s making north of 2mil/year, so if you were making $50k per year, this would be equivalent to about $500 each year in traffic violations.
What I love most is his attitude. American millionaires would be throwing a screaming fit. This dude’s just “I really regret the matter,” “…that’s how it went.”
I get the idea behind it, but it’s still such an idiotic concept. Why call it a “fine” at all? Just put all speed limits behind payment tiers. Broke people can go 30 mph, middle class 60 mph, and so on. Billionaires are free to ride their supercars as fast as they want and kill as many people on the road as they want, just for a token monthly payment to the highway patrol’s holiday fund.
Or do the more sensible thing and stop treating traffic fines as a profit center. If someone is a hazard on the road then take away their fancy cars and suspend their license.

I know I wouldn’t want to pay $500/year in fines.

For him that’s a very affordable price to essentially speed all he wants.

…justice should be equal. This is unacceptable as it would be to give someone impoverished this fine.
