Didn’t mr beast do something like this?
Whatever their motivation was for terminating him, even if it was as valid as can be, doesn’t mean they can withhold his due wages. So, whether or not they paid him in pennies, he never should have had to make the complaint in the first place. Now, if he stole, or did anything criminal, then they should have gotten the authorities involved, not withheld his pay.
I mean after reading the article, it sounds like the ex employee is probably a bit of a piece of shit and he did still get paid.
This is punching down as supposed to [punching up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJK8Zq-lEs0)
Looks like the owner is going to be spending a few pennies on lawyers, court fees, and fines. Hope he enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame.
The auto shop’s website actually has a page about this! Guess we will be seeing just who the “Weenie” was! (sorry about the lousy writing… but I’m not going to bother proofreading it for that weenie, although I did break his wall of text into paragraphs to make it more readable) :
> Ahh, the pennies. What started out as a gotcha to a subpar ex-employee, sure got a lot of press. Unfortunately, by law, we cannot disclose his short comings. Let us just say that maybe he stole? Maybe he killed a dog? Maybe he killed a cat? Maybe he was lazy? Maybe he was a butcher? Maybe he liked self-gratifying himself in clients’ cars? What ever you want to think is your prerogative.
> But know that no one would go to the trouble we did to make a point with out being motivated. And honestly what is the big deal? He got paid! In cash! Money that in a just world he should have never received! And quite frankly if you think what we did warrants the 80+ death threats, the thousands of overly aggressive phone calls , the thousands of disturbing e-mails, the thousands of FALSE reviews, and the gag gifts we have received. Then you are not the kind of people we want to do business with. Well, I must admit some of them have been very humorous and have provided us many hours of enjoyment. Most are innocent enough. Like children having a temper tantrum. It is obvious that they are trying to keep their voice low attempting not to alert their mothers.
> It truly is amazing how self-important the cancel culture thinks it is!
> They just do not seem to understand that we will not be canceled! We will fight to the bloody end! And if by some miracle they are successful, they are putting 10 happy employees out of work. What sense does that make? If the cancel culture focused their energy on something intelligent and worthwhile, they may be able to accomplish something great. Like stopping the needless murders in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, and DC every week. Or take a stand against the tyranny of an overbearing government. Literally, there are millions of issues more important than a former employee getting paid in an unorthodox, but totally legal manor. WEENIE!
Title is a bit misleading. The employer is getting sued for retaliation and not keeping proper records. I think the paying a debt with pennies is perfectly legal though, albeit a dick move
Shop owner sounds like a real tool.
