ELI5: Why can’t retail deodorant sprays (Axe, Old Spice, Dove) replicate the fragrance of boutique colognes (Burberry, Hugo Boss, even CKs)?
I get that we’re talking about two completely different chemicals, but why does any fragrance that you can pick up in a grocery story have either that distinct locker room smell, or is invariably more “blunt” than any boutique cologne, which I think are a lot more nuanced and “subtle”. Isn’t it just a question of /kind of/ replicating the fragrances?
I’ve had experience with fragrances for men’s, but I’m sure it’s something similar for women too.
