SaintPolkadot: If someone stops eating meat for a significant amount of time, it’s possible that the amount of enzymes dedicated to animal-protein digestion might reduce a little to compensate for the increase of other food groups in the system. This isn’t permanent, it’ll just take the person’s body more time to digest and may cause an upset stomach. They will eventually adjust to an omnivore diet.
TattooJerry: Been a vegetarian for more than twenty years, the thought is a little frightening. I can’t imagine the intestinal distress that would cause. Though I have known people that were vegetarian for a good number of years and went carnivore, they reported quite a bit of adjustment as far as their digestive tract over time.
