Lately encrypted email (Tutanota, Posteo) and chat (Signal, Wire) apps are on the rise. The more people use them, the harder it will get for online spies to monitor everybody’s conversations online. Or as Bruce Schneier puts it: “Every time you use encryption, you’re protecting someone who needs to use it to stay alive.”

thijser2: I would advice everyone to use [protonmail](https://protonmail.com/) as it even stores your emails in encrypted form meaning that even if a hacker/government gets their servers your mails remain secure.
