I don’t know any of the things I could be expected to encounter, where the best places to stay are, etc.
I’m not expecting to live in my car anytime soon, but it’d be cool to have the knowledge! Thanks!
Snakes seem to have a thing for cars. Mostly, where i live (Sub Saharan Africa).
rainey832: Hmm well I’ll tell you what I did for a bit. I had a laptop, a piece of wood, a car, and a very part time job that stopped giving me very many hours. Also the reason I didn’t have a place anymore.
But anyway I just pulled up to a Micky Dee’s and got on the free WiFi and played the fuck out of guild wars 2 with the wood thing as a desk surface. Went to bed in the back seats. It wasn’t too bad
TheTalkWalk: There is a documentary called trailer park boys that shows one of the main characters doing so.

There is no real positive mechanism I have ever heard of. But I know having an inverter or generator handy would be helpful.
I have seen people cook using the heat of an engine, but I imagine that was poor car maintanence. (they used tinfoil to protect from the rust and oil of the engine)
Jug of water. and take out the backseets back so that you have better room to lay down. (makes the ride super loud though)
huntermunter: A lot of my friends and I have done this for a few month-long stretches over the past several years, mainly around the Western US where there is tons of public land, and had a lot of success!
My personal anecdote: I had just graduated college and wanted to spend the summer exploring some new spots in the West so I built out my SUV with a platform to sleep on and a way to store/organize all my essentials. Most nights I slept on NFS or BLM land. I cooked meals on a propane stove. I took advantage of public bathrooms when I could but most of the time, if I started getting a little ripe, I’d take a dip in a river/lake/hot spring and freshen up with sani-wipes. I spent most of my time outside so I didn’t have to worry too much about entertaining myself but if the weather was bad or I was taking a rest day, I’d read a book or listen to music. If I needed wifi, I’d find a coffee shop.
The first week or so took some adjustment, but after that it was all pretty easy! Main priorities are just to keep yourself fed and hydrated and not dead.
